Dr Feelgood’s Stockport

Dr Feelgoods, Stockport

Dr Feelgood’s is the latest establishment brought to the Stockport food and drink scene by Joseph Patton – the man behind The Cracked Actor, The Glass Spider and Breaking Glass Bottle.

As the town centre night time economy continues to flourish there was an obvious gap for live music venues.

Dr Feelgood’s, based in the marketplace, answers the call and has set up an almost Northern Quarter style gig venue. Upon entry there is an instant feeling that connects you to the atmosphere of the Ruby Lounge in Manchester.

Nothing fancy, neon lights, concrete floors, open brick, dimmed lights and glam rock tracks. The steel tables look they have been designed to withstand the weight of people stood on them screaming the chorus to a variety of Queen tracks.

There are also a number of vintage style games to play including football tables and pin ball machines – something the town centre does not offer anywhere else.

The addition of bifold doors and outdoor seating makes the space feel open, spacious and transparently lively.

On to the good stuff.. The drinks – there is a variety of edgy beers on offer including the likes of Tiny Rebel, Pump up the Jam and Rattle Snake. There is also a classic gig favourite on draft, Red Stripe – it’s one of those beers that means you know you are about to see a live band.

For those looking for something a little less hoppy there is an extensive collection of eccentric cocktails including the Funky Flamingo.

If you are looking for a night of great music, interesting drinks and a solid atmosphere Dr Feelgood’s is going to be your new home. We guarantee it.
