Profolk • Stockport’s New Co-working Space

Stockport Marketplace has a new addition. It’s not a bar or a restaurant it’s a co-working space. Co-working spaces are growing around the country and highlight the importance of flexible working environments.

The team behind Profolk, Hall Property, have done an incredible job restoring this old bank to its former glory. With a spend of over 600,000 it’s safe to say no corners have been cut and no detail too small.

This co-working space is setting its target on luring digital freelancers and small companies into town. We have to thank Hall Property for creating an option for these kind of workers as it is a huge step in regeneration and adds a new type of job to the local market.

Internally there are office spaces, hot desk options, kitchens, showers, meeting rooms, cycle racks & more.

The pictures taken really don’t do the space justice. What the team have created really is spectacular. I’d even imagine guided tours of this historical building would be immensely popular.

We must commend the team for using the attributes of the building and incorporating them into the design. Using the bank vaults as meeting spaces, cleaning up the stained glass, highlighting the cornices, detailing the historic brick work all add to the grandeur of the space. The phrase that comes to mind is “they don’t build them like this anymore”.
