This Godless Place Stockport

Located on Bridge Street (near that outrageously steep hill to the marketplace) This Godless Place joins the ever growing independent food & drink scene in Stockport. This Bar & Canteen is all about offering a new relaxed dining space in the historic setting of the Old Union Bank. 

This Godless Place is the latest venture by Martin Healy of The Good Rebel, he told us “Stockport continues to thrive and grow and I wanted to grow with it”. It is great to see local businesses expanding and choosing to contribute further to SK1’s regeneration.

The space itself does an excellent job of reinvigorating the features of the iconic bank – whether that be from opening up the ornate ceiling, stripping back to the historic brick walls or utlising the old bank vaults. The height of the room really is incredible and the feeling of openness and depth takes you back as you enter the restaurant. We should also mention that there is disabled access and disabled facilities.

Martin was well aware that there is room for more eateries to set up shop in Stockport and the casual dining menu including tacos, Mac n Cheese, burgers, loaded fries and grilled cheese will help fill that gap. The food offering includes a variety of options for changing pallets, with a special mention of the on trend Vegan Beyond Burger.

Currently on draft, Union Bank Craft Lager (for obvious reasons), Estrella, Guiness, Poretti and some other crowd pleasers. There are also a selection of cocktails, bottled beers, and curated wines.

Opening next week this new establishment offers a new type of venue to Stockport town centre with a focus on eats and casual drinks. If you are looking to support new and local we highly recommend you pop down, follow them on socials and show them your support.
